Job Description:
A Shift Incharge - Mechanical in a Steel Melting Shop (SMS) ensures maximum equipment uptime and safe operations of machinery such as EAF/BOF, casting machines (CCM), and cranes. They lead mechanical maintenance teams, oversee preventive/breakdown maintenance, manage inventory spares, and troubleshoot failures to meet production targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance Management: Perform and oversee preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance on SMS mechanical equipment to ensure high reliability and minimal downtime.
- Troubleshooting: Quickly identify and fix mechanical failures in equipment like hydraulic/pneumatic systems, water cooling systems, cranes, and conveyors.
- Shift Operations: Lead, motivate, and manage the technical manpower during the shift to align with production goals.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols (PPE, Lockout-Tagout) and maintain a safe working environment.
- Spares Management: Prepare and manage material indents for mechanical spares to avoid production delays.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate daily logs, breakdown reports, and maintenance records.
Qualifications:
- Education: Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 5-10 years in the mechanical maintenance of a steel plant, specifically in the SMS area.
- Skills: Proficiency in hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and heavy-duty machinery.
