Job Description:
The Sales Officer for a steel trading company is responsible for acquiring new clients, managing existing client relationships, and driving the sales of various steel products (e.g., TMT bars, MS plates, pipes, profiles). The primary goal is to achieve sales targets by identifying market opportunities in construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, and fabrication sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Generation & Customer Acquisition:
- Actively seek out new sales opportunities through cold calling, networking, and social media.
- Identify and target potential clients, including construction companies, contractors, developers, and fabricators.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of potential clients.
- Relationship Management:
- Maintain relationships with existing clients to ensure repeat business.
- Provide excellent customer service, addressing inquiries, and resolving issues promptly.
- Understand client requirements and offer tailored steel product solutions.
- Sales Process Management:
- Prepare and deliver appropriate presentations on products/services.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to close deals while maintaining company profitability.
- Prepare quotations, proforma invoices, and sales contracts.
- Coordinate with the logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely delivery of material.
- Market Intelligence:
- Keep abreast of steel market trends, price fluctuations, and competitor activities.
- Provide feedback to management on market demands and pricing strategies.
- Reporting & Administration:
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports.
- Ensure accurate documentation and client record management.
- Follow up on collections and outstanding payments.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience as a Sales Officer, Sales Executive, or similar role, preferably in the steel trading or building materials industry.
- Product Knowledge: Good understanding of steel products (TMT, MS, Profiles, etc.).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for negotiation and client interaction.
- Sales Aptitude: Strong negotiation, persuasion, and interpersonal skills.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and CRM software.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
- Mobility: Ability to travel frequently to meet clients at project sites or offices.
