Job Description:
A Production Supervisor for a foundry plant manages daily metal casting operations, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency standards. They lead floor staff, troubleshoot equipment (furnaces, molding lines), manage shift schedules, and analyze production records to reduce downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Management: Oversee daily melting, molding, and casting activities to meet scheduled targets, ensuring optimal efficiency.
- Quality Control: Ensure all finished castings meet quality standards, reducing rejection rates.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations and maintain a clean shop floor environment.
- Team Leadership: Train, schedule, and supervise staff, fostering a productive and safe work environment.
- Maintenance Coordination: Work with maintenance teams to ensure timely repair and servicing of equipment, such as furnaces and sand plants.
- Reporting: Compile and analyze production records, including heat-wise data and employee productivity metrics.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 3-4 years in a foundry or manufacturing environment.
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Metallurgical Engineering preferred, though experience is heavily valued.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of casting processes, metal alloys, and furnace operations.
- Skills: Strong communication, team management, troubleshooting, and computer skills (e.g., ERP systems).
Typical Working Conditions
- Rotational shifts (day/night).
- Fast-paced, heavy industrial environment.
