About the Role

We are looking for a technically strong and customer-focused Regional Service Engineer to support warehouse automation and material handling systems at customer locations.

The Regional Service Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support, preventive maintenance, breakdown troubleshooting, installation, commissioning, equipment testing and customer training to ensure high equipment availability and minimum operational downtime.

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Technical Support

  • Respond promptly to customer technical queries and service requests.
  • Provide remote and on-site technical support for warehouse automation equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, electronic and automation-related problems.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and implement corrective actions to restore operations quickly.
  • Minimize equipment downtime and ensure high system availability.
  • Provide timely escalation and technical updates to internal teams and customers.

2. Installation & Commissioning

  • Support installation, setup and commissioning of warehouse automation and material handling equipment.
  • Ensure correct equipment integration, configuration and functionality as per project specifications.
  • Assist with equipment testing and system validation.
  • Conduct system calibration and performance testing.
  • Identify installation-related issues and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Support site acceptance testing and commissioning activities.

3. Preventive Maintenance

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance of warehouse automation equipment.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections and functional checks.
  • Perform lubrication, adjustments, calibration and component checks according to maintenance schedules.
  • Identify potential equipment failures before they result in major breakdowns.
  • Follow OEM maintenance procedures and recommended service intervals.
  • Maintain equipment reliability and operational performance.

4. Breakdown Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Attend emergency breakdowns and provide rapid technical assistance.
  • Troubleshoot electromechanical systems, PLCs, sensors, drives and control systems.
  • Diagnose faults using appropriate testing and diagnostic equipment.
  • Identify root causes of recurring failures.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive action initiatives.
  • Ensure breakdowns are properly documented and closed within the required turnaround time.

5. Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong technical relationships with customer teams.
  • Deliver professional and responsive service at customer sites.
  • Understand customer operational requirements and provide proactive technical solutions.
  • Communicate equipment status, breakdown causes and corrective actions clearly.
  • Support customers in improving equipment uptime and reliability.

6. Customer Training

  • Provide training to customer personnel on:
    • Equipment operation
    • Preventive maintenance
    • Basic troubleshooting
    • Safety procedures
    • Equipment handling
  • Demonstrate correct operating and maintenance practices.
  • Help customer teams improve equipment availability and reduce avoidable breakdowns.

7. Automation Equipment Support

Develop strong technical knowledge of warehouse automation and material handling systems, including:

  • Conveyor Systems

8. Spare Parts & Inventory Management

  • Maintain regional spare-parts inventory.
  • Monitor consumption and availability of critical spare components.
  • Identify and raise requirements for replacement parts in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of spare usage.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and suppliers for required components.
  • Return faulty components to the factory for Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and technical evaluation.

9. Service Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of service activities and equipment breakdowns.
  • Document:
    • Breakdown details
    • Maintenance activities
    • Equipment condition
    • Spare-parts consumption
    • Corrective actions
    • RCA findings
    • Downtime
  • Update maintenance/service management systems as required.
  • Prepare periodic service and maintenance reports.

10. Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement

  • Follow company safety standards, service procedures and quality requirements.
  • Ensure safe working practices at customer locations.
  • Participate in quality audits and technical inspections.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify recurring equipment problems and recommend reliability improvements.
  • Follow applicable OEM and regulatory safety requirements.

Technical Skills Required

Automation & Controls

  • Working knowledge of PLC systems.
  • Understanding of PLC fault identification and basic troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of industrial sensors and control systems.
  • Familiarity with VFDs, motors and drives.
  • Understanding of electromechanical automation systems.

Electrical Skills

  • Electrical troubleshooting and fault finding.
  • Knowledge of electrical wiring and control panels.
  • Understanding of motors, sensors, drives and electrical components.
  • Ability to use basic electrical diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.

Mechanical Skills

  • Knowledge of mechanical assemblies and material handling equipment.
  • Experience with conveyor systems and related components.
